In this panel moderated by Celisa Calacal of KCUR 89.3, I shared how my Black, queer, and feminine identities have shaped my political consciousness and advocacy. Reflecting on my experiences coming out in high school, I discussed the complexities of political affiliation and the importance of action beyond traditional party lines.
When they came out in high school, Montalvo was quickly confronted with the realities of a homophobic world. This, in part, was what spurred them towards advocacy.
